Host family accommodation at the Spanish + Kids Tennis Camp in Spain
Host family accommodation for kids
Living with a Spanish family is one of the best ways to get to know the country, including the Spanish culture and Spanish people. It will also allow students to practice the Spanish language in a natural way.
The majority of the host families are near the Spanish school, around 10 or 15 minutes walking. A person from the host family or a member of Zador staff accompanies kids to go to the School.
The families are selected and visited regularly by our staff. In all of them, students will find a warm atmosphere that will help them get integrated into the family and city life very quickly.
Students will have a twin room. The family provides the bed linen and towels and will have laundry once or twice a week and they should keep their room clean and tidy, and share the housework with the rest of the family.
As in any family around the world, there are also a series of rules children must follow: be punctual to meal hours, keep the room tidy...
Students have to take into account that the house in Spain is considered a private family place and organising parties or dinners is not very frequent. Therefore, if children want to have a guest over, they should ask permission, keeping in mind that in most cases the family will not fancy the idea.
All the participant should arrive the evening before the beginning of the Spanish course and leave the accommodation the day after the end of the language course. Days before or after are considered extra nights.
Host families are representative of Spanish society. Families with or without children, retired couples without children... Many of the families selected have children. However, we cannot guarantee that your interest will be compatible in all respects. You must bear this in mind, since living with a Spanish family involves adjusting to different habits and life styles and you have to explain all of this to your kids.
You need to prepare your child to discover a country that has a different culture as his own.
Meals: full board accommodation
Regarding the meals, kids will have full board:
— Breakfast: Breakfast in Spain usually consists of juice or yogurt, hot chocolate, tea or coffee with milk, bread or biscuits, butter and jam or cereals.
— Lunch: During the week, from Monday to Friday students taking part in Tennis Camp have lunch at the Tennis club resturant. On Saturday or Sunday (depending on the excursion planned for the weekend) lunch time in Spain is between 2.30 p.m. and 3 p.m..
— Dinner is around 21:00 or 21:30 during the week and there is not a fixed time during the weekends.
— Special requirements: kids with special dietary requirements should make a note in the enrolment. One week before the beginning of the Spanish language course, students will be supplied with the information concerning the accommodation: host family address, names, ages, profession, hobbies of the family and an email to contact them before arrival just to introduce them.
Some rules in the family
Phone calls and Internet: Participants must use calling cards. The family should be notified if students want to make reverse charge calls. To receive phone calls the limited time is around 10.30 p.m. Internet and phone access varies by family.
Student expenses: Remember that the kids should pay their own expenses on excursions, bars, restaurants, cinemas, cafés… We suggest around € 15 per day as pocket money.
